In July of 2009, Ernie Pierce lost his battle with Linitis Plastica, a rare form of gastric cancer. Ernie was a devoted family man, a hard worker in the insurance industry and a loyal friend. He had passion for the outdoors and sports, especially golf. So, it is very fitting that Ernie's family organized a memorial golf tournament in his name.
The First Annual "EP Classic" was held on Monday, June 21, 2010 at River Oaks Golf Club in Edmond, Oklahoma. This specific day was very special for friends and family, as it would have been Ernie's 65th birthday.
In addition to a very fun and competitive scramble tournament, the day included a wonderful dinner, silent auction and presentation from GCF Board Member Dr. James Ford. The entire event was a tremendous success, almost doubling the fundraising goal and generating over $18,000 for gastric cancer research. Special thanks to Lesley Pierce Bloese, Jan Pierce, Amber Williamson and David Bloese for all their effort in coordinating on this amazing event.
