Greetings from the Gastric Cancer Fund
This tremendous support has allowed us to begin executing our research objectives. We are starting to pilot our gastric cancer registry, which includes demographic, genetic and post-treatment quality of life components. In fact, we’re looking for a few volunteers to help us “bullet-proof” our survey tools before launching to a mass audience. Anyone interested should contact me directly at jp@gastriccancer.org. In addition, with the help of NetApp and the Stanford Genome Technology Center, we have begun sequencing the gastric cancer cell to help better understand its genomic make-up, and ideally find keys to isolate and eliminate it. For more information on this landmark donation and project, please read our feature article in this newsletter. Our website continues to be a source of education and hope to survivors around the globe, recently exceeding 300,000 hits from over 100 countries around the world. Our organization was recently highlighted in CURE Magazine, the largest consumer magazine in the U.S. focused entirely on cancer, reaching 1 million total readers. We hosted our inaugural gala in Woodside, CA this winter and exceeded even our most aggressive fundraising goals. Additional events are continuing to pop up all over the country in different shapes and sizes. Please read more about our successful events recently conducted. For all our progress, the reality is that this terrible disease is not slowing down. We continue to lose amazing people every single day. But with your continued support, I know that we will make a difference. In health and gratitude, JP Gallagher
