The Gastric Cancer Fund has benefitted from a series of successful events this winter and spring. Below is a snapshot of some recent activities. Special thanks to all the individuals who made these events such a tremendous success.

On February 28, Brian Hill organized a fundraiser to honor the memory of his wife, Jennifer Hill, at the Skate-A-Long USA in Lilburn, Georgia. Jennifer passed away in November of 2009 from gastric cancer at the age of 32. The event, scheduled during the month of what would have been Jennifer’s 33rd birthday,attracted over 200 supporters and raised over $1,500 for the Gastric Cancer Fund.

In 2009 Jan Silverston, lost his battle with gastric cancer. To honor the memory of “Beloved Jan” and to help fight gastric cancer, his friends and family hosted the Jan Silverston Memorial Golf Tournament at the Stonebridge Golf Links & Country Club on Friday, May 14, 2010. The event was a great success with over 100 golfers participating in the tournament, and over 200 individuals enjoying in a fantastic dinner. In total, the event raised $11,433 for the Gastric Cancer Fund. Very special thanks to Bobby Werner, Alan Nordon, Mel Ockner and all those involved in planning this fantastic event. A huge amount of effort was put forth and is greatly appreciated by Jan's family and the Gastric Cancer Fund. |
